Venturing out on my own, the lessons of my past illuminate the path forward. With strong values and a client-centered approach, I shaped my
business to reflect my passion for helping people and making a positive impact.
After years of working in the family business, suddenly, I was ready to step off the familiar path. My father established our plumbing company in 1961. I never questioned what I was going to do with my life—the family business was something I wanted to be a part of. In 2000, my brother and I purchased the company. Since I was a child, my life revolved around this plumbing business, where I honed my skills and developed a strong work ethic.
In 2011, a new chapter unfolded in my life as I explored opportunities beyond the plumbing world. With two kids in college and two in private school, I knew whatever I chose to do, it needed to provide for my family. It was the first time I thought beyond the family business and really considered what it was I wanted to do. At first, I worked in financial services, but in 2014, I became a licensed REALTOR®, inspired by years of buying, selling, investing, and building homes.
There were many challenges I faced in the beginning, having to build a business from the ground up. My supportive
wife, Cindy, even took up a part-time job to help compensate for our income as I got started. Having her support, gave me even more motivation to overcome the initial hurdles of starting a business to succeed.
The skills I acquired in the plumbing world served as a solid foundation for my real estate career. In plumbing, we focused on working with builders, inviting clients to our showroom and helping them pick fixtures for their homes. This hands-on experience taught me the importance of listening and understanding clients' needs—a principle I carry into real estate. If you treat people right and act with honesty and integrity, good things will always come.
When you are in the trades, you play an important role in putting together the big picture of real estate. My role expanded from plumbing to representing the entire house. The desire to be part of the bigger picture, helping people make informed decisions that affect the entire home, became a driving force in my transition to real estate.
Our plumbing company's approach, centered on helping clients get what they want, became the cornerstone of my real estate philosophy. The concept of being on time, brutally honest and delivering on promises translated seamlessly into the real estate world. Even better, I found my work in real estate to be even more rewarding. I enjoy helping people make big life decisions, preparing them and supporting them every step of the way!
From closing over 40 transactions in my first year to consistently ranking among the top producers, each accomplishment became a symbol of the
hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence I strive to instill into every interaction. Building my team, the Rick Genzink Group, marked yet another exciting milestone in my career. I am most proud of the collaborative and trust-based relationships fostered with clients, colleagues and the community. The ability to listen, care and consult has become the hallmark of my real estate practice.
When I reflect back on my experiences, I find gratitude not only for the invaluable experiences gained while managing the family business but also for the courage it required to embark on a new venture, starting from ground zero. Building from scratch, I take pride in the incredible team we have cultivated. My story is of growth, resilience and an unwavering commitment to serving others.
Throughout this journey, my wife, Cindy, has been a huge source of support, believing in me every step of the way. We love spending time with our kids, family and friends, going on vacation, golfing and being involved with our church.
The beauty of this business lies in the diversity—from building a dream home worth millions to crafting a cozy ranch at $150,000; I can connect with clients across different preferences, budgets and backgrounds. It's not about what I want; it's about implementing YOUR vision, bringing it to life in as easy and stress-free of a way as possible.
With a background in plumbing and over a decade of experience in the industry, I integrate my knowledge into walkthroughs, offering insights on house systems, potential renovations and more. This added layer of expertise provides clients with a holistic understanding of their potential homes. I don't see myself merely as a real estate agent but as a consultant. Clients seek not only my services but also my opinion and advice. Trust is built over multiple transactions, and I'm not afraid to express my professional opinion, fostering a transparent and collaborative relationship. Even when the transaction is over, we are not going anywhere! For any questions, information or resources you need, we are here to help as your REALTORS® for life.
Sincerely,
Rick Genzink
